Struggling to stay focused in your kot? And the campus library feels more like a nap zone than a study hub? We’ve got you covered! Sunny terraces, cultural centres, or co-working spaces: this is our pick of the best free study spots in Brussels, to help you find your study groove.
Brik Study Spaces
If you live or study in Brussels, you just HAVE to explore the Brik Study Spaces. Anyone studying at a college or university can use them, and what’s more, they are free of charge and can be found all over the city.
From quiet corners in cultural centres and libraries to unexpected gems like concert halls and corporate buildings, there’s something for everyone. Perfect for when you want to focus, but don’t want to be alone.
If you’re interested, just know that most locations are only available during the revision periods, and you will need to book in advance. Pick your favourite from the list and secure your study spot.

And the best part? If you want to grab a bite while you’re there, most places offer affordable snacks or light meals
To get there: Type the name of your study spot in Floya, choose your transport mode, and that’s it! You’re sure to find a STIB-MIVB stop, a dropzone or a Villo! station in the area.
Bois de la Cambre
Are you studying at ULB or VUB? Bois de la Cambre is the perfect spot for a group study session, some fresh air, or even a quick workout during your break.
In this 120-hectare park, there’s no doubt you’ll find a nice place to settle down. Just grab a blanket and you’ve got yourself a place to study!

And the best part? The park is car-free on weekends, during school breaks, and on public holidays. Take the opportunity to go there on foot, by bike or by step, and enjoy a calm and sunny study session.
To get there: Since the park is rather big, it’s best to check where exactly you want to go by using Floya:
- Want to stay near avenue Louise? Type “Théâtre de Poche” or “Jeux d’Hiver” in Floya
- Would you rather wander around in the centre of the park, close to ULB and VUB? Enter “Le Flore” and look for a spot to sit down on the lawn
- Are you coming from Ukkel? Simply type “Bois de la Cambre”
- Do you long for a refreshing breeze? Select “Lac du Bois de la Cambre” in Floya and make you way to the water
Domein Coloma
You’re coming from Campus CERIA, and you don’t mind going the extra mile to find THE ideal place to study? Check out the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw Library on the edge of the Domein Coloma, with its rose garden. Okay, it’s not technically in Brussels, but it’s just a stone’s throw from the train station and easily accessible with De Lijn buses.
This peaceful spot has it all: a stunning sunny terrace and quiet study rooms. Perfect if you want to study in a calming and inspiring setting.
It’s also very well equipped: whiteboards, places to charge your laptop, and free Wi-Fi. And if you need a pick-me-up, you can grab a coffee in the lobby.

And the best part? This spot is a hidden gem. It’s tucked away in an oasis of greenery and a perfect place to relax when you need a break, or when you simply want to enjoy the view from the terrace.
To get there: open Floya and type “Hoofdbibliotheek Sint-Pieters-Leeuw” in the search box. You can buy SNCB-NMBS and De Lijn tickets directly in the app.
