5 districts for going out in Brussels 

Passing through Brussels? Looking for your new favourite bar? Here are 5 districts near a public transport stop where you can spend a pleasant evening with a drink. And to get home? You’ll always find a taxi, Noctis bus, Cambio or Villo! station or a free-floating option nearby. Which is a good thing, because parking is often complicated. 

Central District

The city centre is the beating heart of BX: the ideal place to experience the Brussels’ atmosphere. Already tried your hand at the must-visit bars around Saint-Géry? 

• Push on to Sainte-Catherine to enjoy the warm atmosphere of the Bar des amis 
• Continue towards Dansaert to drink a home-made cocktail at Life is Beautiful  
• Rediscover the surroundings of the Sablon and chill out with friends at the Café des Minimes 
• End the evening around the LOFT’s 12-metre long bar

Saint-Boniface District 

For a trendy atmosphere, head to Saint-Boniface. All kinds of restaurants, bars with varied menus, dancing cafés… this small district of Ixelles, near Matongé, has everything to please. Less busy than the centre, but bathed in the charm of its Gothic church, it is the up and coming district for your nights out:

Josaphat District 

A little more remote but no less lively, the Josaphat district is home to a number of hidden gems that will quickly become your favourite hotspots. Ideal for a cosy evening out with friends: 

• Get together with the unpretentious selection from Bab’s wine for share, the new kid on the block
• Immerse yourself in the friendly atmosphere of Copain. Beers, wines and platters to sample: there’s something for everyone. 
• Make yourself comfortable at 1030 Café and enjoy a friendly welcome and live music. 
• Looking for something a little more sophisticated? Push open the door of the Éthylo and treat yourself to one of their signature cocktails.

Châtelain District 

One of the capital’s most upscale neighbourhoods, the area around Rue du Bailli and Place du Châtelain is home to many trendy bars and restaurants, especially popular on Wednesday nights: 

• Have an aperitif at the La Trinquette wine bar or relax with your friends at La Famille 
• Enjoy a cocktail in the industrial setting of the Le Stoefer bar  
• Continue towards Jolie Joli Cocktail Club to keep the party going even on Sundays 
• Head into La Luck game bar for a refreshing alternative to the traditional bars

Flagey District 

Looking for a relaxed setting where all ages are welcome? Then look no further than the Place Flagey, where students, residents and passers-by gather:

• Meet at the Bar du marché (“BDM” to its friends), for lively discussions over a drink in a friendly atmosphere 
• Stop by the Rebel bar which combines a taste for good wine with a relaxed atmosphere
